Ray Lago

Ray has been a prolific Artist for the comic book/fantasy industry for almost 4 decades, creating covers and cards of popular characters such as Spider-Man, The Avengers, The X-Men, Superman, Vampirella, Ana Ishikawa/Shi, Predator, Robocop, Star Wars, the Garbage Pail Kids and many others. Comic book story credits include Marvel’s Open Space and Hellraiser series, “Ivanhoe” for Classics Illustrated, “Ask Any Mermaid” in NBM’s Skin Tight Orbit vol. 2, Harris Comics’ Vampirella 25th Anniversary Special, “Shi: Masquerade” for Crusade, Little Annie Fanny for Playboy Magazine and “Marwe: Into the Land of the Dead” for Lerner Books. Ray is also well known for his Magic the Gathering gaming cards for Wizards of the Coast. More recently, Ray has painted Ultraman gaming cards for Tsuburaya Productions and Snappy Cracks product parody cards for Craniacs World. He is currently painting some DC trading cards for Upper Deck. He continues to teach as an Adjunct Professor for the Illustration Dept. at NYC’s Fashion Institute of Technology. There have been two monographs on his work: Ray Lago: Heroes & Angels and Ray Lago Sketchbook I: Drawn to Beauty.
